National Technical Institute says 92 HVAC students were among 180 trade students who graduated from its Las Vegas campus, adding newly trained workers to a market where contractors continue to recruit technicians.

The September 21 graduating class also included 48 plumbing and 40 electrical students. According to the school, 17 members of the overall class had secured jobs before completing their coursework. That figure covers all three trades; NTI did not say how many of the 17 were HVAC graduates.

The HVAC students’ practical work included installing mini-split systems in administrative offices at the school’s new campus building. NTI says its programs generally run for 12 to 16 weeks and offer in-person and hybrid options.

For employers, a graduating class creates a near-term recruiting opportunity. It also raises a familiar question: how to support new hires as they move from training-lab installations to customer homes and commercial job sites. The school’s announcement does not establish that 92 experienced technicians have entered the field, but it does identify a new group of entry-level candidates in Nevada.
