AD has closed its acquisition of supplyFORCE, adding a national-accounts business aimed at helping independent distributors serve large customers with locations across multiple markets.
The transaction became effective September 24. AD said more than 80 supplyFORCE employees will join the organization and that supplyFORCE will continue operating as an optional program for AD members. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Why an HVAC distributor should pay attention
AD spans several distribution sectors, including HVAC. A regional independent distributor can offer strong service in its home market, while a national customer may need consistent fulfillment across dozens of sites. AD says the addition of supplyFORCE is intended to help members compete for those larger, multisite opportunities.
The deal raises a question for HVAC distribution: how can an independent business retain its local strengths while meeting a customer’s national purchasing requirements? AD’s answer is to put a shared national-accounts program behind member companies. Whether it generates new HVAC contracts will depend on integration, local member coverage and customer demand.
A larger distribution strategy
AD described the acquisition as its 18th transaction with another member-owned group. It adds a customer-facing capability rather than a conventional branch network. For OEMs, national-account programs are worth watching because they can influence how products and service are coordinated across distributor territories. AD did not disclose a purchase price or HVAC-specific revenue figure for this deal.
