American Residential Services has expanded its national home services footprint with the acquisition of Tipping Hat Plumbing, Heating & Electric, a Denver-based residential contractor serving the broader Denver metro area.

Tipping Hat provides residential heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical services across Denver and surrounding communities including Aurora, Boulder, and Golden. The company was founded more than a decade ago and employs approximately 80 team members.

For ARS, the acquisition strengthens its presence in Colorado and adds another established local contractor to the ARS/Rescue Rooter network. ARS is one of the largest residential HVAC and plumbing service providers in the United States, with services that include heating, cooling, indoor air quality, plumbing, drain cleaning, sewer line work, radiant barrier, insulation, and ventilation.

For HVAC contractors, the deal is another example of how consolidation continues to move through the residential home services market. Companies with strong local brands, multiple trades, recurring customer demand, and a reputation for reliable service remain attractive to national platforms.

Tipping Hat is especially relevant because it is not just an HVAC contractor. It operates across plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical. That multi-trade model has become increasingly valuable in residential services because it allows companies to serve more of the homeowner relationship, increase customer lifetime value, and build a broader service platform around the same household.

ARS said Tipping Hat has built a strong reputation through its skilled team, customer-first approach, and leadership. The company’s owners, Phillip and Erin Eastwood, said joining ARS would allow Tipping Hat to provide enhanced services to customers and employees while continuing to serve the Denver community.

For independent contractors, the message is clear: buyers are still looking for well-run local service businesses, especially those with a strong brand, trained technicians, clean operations, and a customer base that can support continued growth.

The acquisition also points to the continued importance of local market density. Colorado is a competitive home services market, and Denver’s mix of heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical demand makes it attractive for larger platforms looking to build scale. A contractor with an established team and local recognition can help a national platform grow faster than building from scratch.

For technicians and managers inside acquired companies, these deals can also bring changes in training, systems, benefits, branding, call center support, fleet operations, and growth opportunities. The impact depends heavily on how much local autonomy remains after the transaction and how the platform integrates the acquired business.

For competing contractors, the practical takeaway is simple. National platforms are still buying local strength. That means the basics matter more than ever: clean financials, strong reviews, documented processes, trained technicians, maintenance agreements, and a brand homeowners trust.

ARS acquiring Tipping Hat is not just a Colorado story. It is another sign that residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical consolidation remains active, and that multi-trade contractors with strong local roots are still high on the acquisition target list.
