Another HVAC distributor is expanding its physical footprint in the Southeast.

VAD, a Master Group company, announced a new branch in Rock Hill, South Carolina on September 8, extending its service area across the southern Charlotte metropolitan market. 

The location becomes the company's 21st regional branch.

One Date Needs Clarification

The location “officially opened” on September 14.

Because September 14 is still in the future, the safest interpretation is that VAD announced the upcoming September 14 opening rather than that the branch had already opened on September 8. 

That distinction is important.

VAD Is Building Around Contractor Access

The new branch is located in Rock Hill, just south of Charlotte.

VAD says the expansion is designed to give contractors improved local access to HVAC/R brands, technical expertise and service. 

For contractors, branch proximity still matters even in an increasingly digital distribution market.

When a compressor fails or an installer needs an unexpected component at 2 p.m., same-day availability can matter much more than online convenience.

The Southeast Remains Attractive

The Carolinas continue to attract population growth, housing development and commercial construction.

Distributors tend to expand where they see long-term contractor demand.

A 21st branch therefore represents more than warehouse capacity.

It is a bet on continued HVAC activity in the region.

The interesting contradiction in HVAC distribution is that companies are growing into larger regional or national organizations while simultaneously adding local branches.

Technology.

Supplier relationships.

VAD's new branch is not a billion-dollar acquisition.
