Triad Technologies has completed its first acquisition in more than three years, buying Illinois-based Filtration Corporation of America.
The deal expands Triad’s filtration and fueling capabilities across the Midwest. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Filtration Corporation of America distributes systems and components including:
filter vessels,
pressure-control valves,
fuel-testing equipment,
petroleum-handling equipment,
and filtration products.
The company serves aviation operators, equipment manufacturers and other industrial customers.
This is not a pure HVAC transaction.
But it fits an acquisition pattern increasingly visible across technical distribution.
Buyers are seeking companies that combine product sales with specialized knowledge and engineered applications.
That strategy is highly relevant to HVAC distribution.
The more technically complicated the customer’s system becomes, the harder it is to replace a distributor with a commodity online seller.
Technical expertise creates stickiness.
It also creates an opportunity to capture service, engineering and recurring replacement-product revenue around the initial sale.
For HVAC wholesalers watching M&A activity, the lesson is familiar:
The most attractive distributors increasingly sell expertise as well as inventory.
