TOSOT is expanding its U.S. light-commercial HVAC offering.
On September 8, the company announced three new indoor-unit configurations in its Aoraki Light Commercial Series:
Floor/Ceiling.
Concealed Ducted.
Ceiling Cassette.
The goal is straightforward:
Give contractors more ways to install a system when a standard wall-mounted mini-split does not fit the space.
Extreme Temperature Claims Stand Out
TOSOT says the Aoraki platform can provide cooling in outdoor temperatures up to 140°F and heating down to -40°F.
Those are manufacturer-stated operating limits, not independent performance tests.
Still, the numbers show how aggressively manufacturers are pushing heat-pump equipment into climate conditions once considered difficult for ductless technology.
Three Configurations Solve Different Problems
The Floor/Ceiling model can mount low on a wall or suspend from the ceiling.
It is available in 18,000 and 24,000 Btu/h configurations.
The Concealed Ducted units also come in 18K and 24K capacities and support external static pressure up to 200 Pa.
The Ceiling Cassette lineup ranges from 9K to 24K Btu/h and includes a condensate pump.
Efficiency Reaches 24 SEER2
Select systems are rated up to 24 SEER2 and the entire family uses R-32 refrigerant.
TOSOT says the series will be available in early September.
Why Contractors Should Care
Commercial spaces rarely cooperate with HVAC equipment.
Restaurants have ceilings and aesthetics to work around.
Retail spaces may have huge windows.
Retrofits can have limited duct routes.
Offices may have no usable wall space.
Being able to choose between cassette, concealed ducted and floor/ceiling formats can simplify design without moving to a completely different system platform.
Contractor Takeaway
This is ultimately a product launch rather than an industry-changing event.
But it reflects a bigger trend.
Ductless manufacturers are no longer competing only for residential wall-mounted mini-splits. They are increasingly pushing into light-commercial work with products designed to replace much more traditional HVAC equipment.
