ServiceTrade has acquired Mura, an agentic AI platform that automates billing and collections for field service businesses.

ServiceTrade says the acquisition extends its Stella suite through cash collection, applying AI across the commercial service lifecycle from proposal to payment. The company said Mura users have reported faster invoice processing and shorter billing cycles, with one announcement describing billing cycles shortened by more than 30%.

For mechanical contractors, this is a cash-flow story.

A job is not truly finished when the technician leaves. It is finished when the invoice is correct, approved, sent, followed up, and paid. Slow billing and collections can hurt cash flow, create office bottlenecks, and make profitable work feel financially stressful.

Commercial mechanical contractors often face complex invoicing. Work orders may require documentation, photos, approvals, parts details, labour notes, purchase-order matching, and customer-specific billing rules. If that process is manual, money can sit uncollected for too long.

AI-powered billing tools aim to reduce that lag.

The contractor takeaway is simple: software is moving beyond dispatch. The next battleground is cash. Contractors that shorten billing cycles, reduce office workload, and collect faster may have a real financial advantage — especially in commercial service, where receivables can quietly strain the business.
