Another major technology company is expanding around the infrastructure demands created by AI data centers.
On August 24, Infineon Technologies announced the acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, a Bangalore-based company specializing in intelligent digital power management for AI infrastructure. Financial terms were not disclosed.
C2i develops software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages designed to help data centers manage rapidly changing loads from increasingly powerful AI processors.
AI Chips Are Creating a Power-Management Problem
Modern AI processors do not simply consume large amounts of electricity.
Their power requirements can change extremely quickly.
That means data centers need power systems capable of responding to dramatic load changes while maintaining efficiency and stability.
Infineon says C2i's technology will strengthen its ability to deliver intelligent power architecture from the grid all the way to the processor core.
HVAC Is Solving the Same Density Problem
Why should an HVAC contractor care about semiconductor power management?
Because electrical density and thermal density are inseparable.
Put more electricity into a rack, and the cooling system must remove more heat from the same physical footprint.
