RectorSeal has expanded ClearDrain PVC Commercial for commercial and industrial HVAC/R applications, including grocery stores, convenience stores, refrigeration case drain routing, and rooftop units.

The product incorporates zinc into the manufacturing process to help prevent the growth of bacteria and algae inside condensate and refrigeration drainage systems. ACHR News reported that biocide-free ClearDrain PVC is independently tested to ISO 22196:2011 and can reduce white-slime growth by up to 98% or more, according to the company.

For contractors, this is a practical callback story.

Condensate and refrigeration drain problems are not glamorous, but they can cause serious headaches: clogged lines, water damage, nuisance leaks, odours, case drainage problems, and emergency service calls.

White slime is especially frustrating in commercial refrigeration and high-moisture applications because it can keep returning if the drainage system provides the right environment for bacterial growth.

For grocery and convenience-store contractors, reducing clogs can protect uptime and reduce repeat visits. For rooftop and commercial HVAC contractors, better drain performance can reduce leaks, ceiling damage, and customer frustration.

The contractor takeaway is simple: small components can have big service consequences. Products that reduce recurring drain problems may help contractors protect labour, margin, and customer trust.
