Automated Logic, a part of Carrier Global Corporation, announced on June 2, 2026 that it has unified its UTEC and OEMCtrl controls brands under a single OEMCtrl name — combining two established OEM controls businesses into one expanded portfolio aimed at HVAC equipment manufacturers across residential, light commercial, and commercial segments. The company was explicit that the change is brand-related only, with no operational impact for existing customers.
The unification combines complementary, rather than overlapping, technical strengths. UTEC brings nearly 50 years of experience delivering high-volume, reliable electronic controls specifically for residential and light commercial HVAC equipment, such as furnaces and heat pumps. OEMCtrl, by contrast, has historically focused on smart, programmable controls that integrate commercial HVAC equipment — including rooftop units, air handlers, and dedicated outdoor air systems — directly into building automation systems.
Why This Matters for Equipment Manufacturers, Not Just End Users
This unification is primarily relevant to the OEM side of the HVAC industry — the equipment manufacturers who build controls into their own branded products — rather than directly to contractors or building owners. Axel Reichert, President of Automated Logic, framed the expanded brand as representing a stronger, more comprehensive controls offering for OEMs specifically. Rick Clark, General Manager of OEMCtrl, was more specific about the practical combination: bringing together UTEC's expertise in residential and light commercial embedded controls with OEMCtrl's programmable, building-automation-ready commercial platforms positions the combined brand to support OEMs across a wider range of equipment and applications than either business could offer independently.
For an HVAC equipment manufacturer evaluating which controls partner to embed into a new product line, having a single vendor relationship that spans from basic furnace and heat pump controls through to sophisticated commercial building automation integration is a meaningfully simpler sourcing and engineering relationship than managing separate UTEC and OEMCtrl vendor relationships for different product tiers.
