One of the largest commercial HVAC platforms built out of North America is becoming increasingly global.
Norfolk, Virginia-based AIR Control Concepts announced September 23 that it has expanded into Asia-Pacific, opening operations in Singapore, South Korea and Australia.
The move follows AIR's expansion into Europe, the Middle East and Africa earlier this year.
That means the platform now operates across:
North America.
EMEA.
Asia-Pacific.
AIR Calls Itself the Largest Commercial HVAC, Electrical and Controls Platform Globally
AIR has built its business by combining regional commercial HVAC, controls and electrical businesses while preserving local operating brands.
The company describes itself as the largest commercial HVAC, electrical and controls platform globally.
Its offering includes:
Mechanical systems.
Controls.
Electrical.
Equipment.
Aftermarket parts.
Lifecycle service.
The Expansion Follows Customers and OEMs
AIR said multinational customers and manufacturer partners increasingly need support across multiple countries.
That is an important strategic shift.
Large commercial contractors and rep platforms historically operated regionally.
But manufacturers, multinational property owners and large industrial customers increasingly operate globally.
AIR is attempting to follow them.
More Expansion Is Planned
The company said its new APAC presence creates a foundation for additional expansion throughout Asia.
That suggests Singapore, South Korea and Australia may be the beginning rather than the end of the build-out.
PE and M&A Implication
This matters to investors because commercial HVAC consolidation is increasingly producing platforms that are no longer simply regional roll-ups.
The next phase may involve:
Cross-border acquisitions.
International rep networks.
Global OEM relationships.
Larger sponsor exits.
That can materially change valuation expectations for scaled commercial HVAC businesses.
Contractor Takeaway
AIR is showing what commercial HVAC consolidation can eventually become.
The platform is no longer simply acquiring contractors and rep firms across the U.S. It is building an international HVAC, controls and electrical network spanning three major regions.
